Gerald (Jerry) and Karen Kolschowsky received the 2022 Philanthropist Award from MSU, presented at the annual Alumni Grand Awards program

Motivated by a desire to address poverty and hunger and promote resilient communities, the Kolschowskys have given significantly to MSU in support of work in Africa. They are the co-founding benefactors for the Tanzania Partnership Program (TPP), which is the first initiative of the Partnerships for Sustainable Community Development, a long-term collaborative alliance of local and international organizations dedicated to improving local livelihoods.

TPP initiated work in 2008 in the two pilot villages of Naitolia and Milola, Tanzania, conducting integrated development activities and research studies in several sectors including education, water, economic development, agriculture and food security, human and animal health, and community empowerment.
