These events are intended to increase awareness of what we do on campus, bring new ideas and scholarship to the campus community, and celebrate the wonderful people that work with and on the continent.

Community Spotlight

Find out about the wonderful community and faculty members that are doing great work bringing African Studies to Michigan State University and bringing MSU to Africa. Each month we highlight a new member of the university or of the community that we think is excelling in their work.

If you're new to the MSU community, this is a great way to stay in touch and learn about all of the great things happening on campus!

Eye on Africa

The African Studies Center hosts a weekly seminar series that provides scholars, policy-makers, applied practitioners, students, and the interested public with cutting-edge and highly-contextualized knowledge about the African continent. Here you'll find the schedule of the upcoming speakers for the semester as well as what topics they will be presenting on, and where the seminars take place.

African Tea Time

Twice a month the African Studies Center hosts African Tea Times . These are great opportunities to learn and share about first-hand experiences on the African continent. The tea times are open to everyone. Each time focuses on different countries, and you can find out which countries will be discussed, when the conversations will take place, and at what location.

This is a great opportunity to talk about the experiences you've had as well as to learn about the experiences of others. If you're new to the MSU community, this is a great way to get involved and meet new people!
