Outreach Program

The nationally-recognized African Studies outreach program offers in-service/professional workshops and seminars, Africa study-tours, summer programs for students, on-line curriculum and audio-visual materials, museum exhibitions, and more.


Eye on Africa

Eye on Africa is a weekly seminar series that provides scholars, policy-makers, applied practitioners, students, and the interested public with cutting-edge and highly-contextualized knowledge about the African continent.


African Tea Time

African Tea Time is an opportunity to learn and share about first-hand experiences on the African continent and in the diaspora. The event is open to everyone. 


Awards

Tanzania Partnership Program

The Tanzania Partnership Program (TPP) is a long term collaboration between local and international organizations striving to improve local livelihoods. The goal of this program is to cultivate sustainable community development with Tanzanian institutions of higher education, scholars, and development practitioners.


Trans-regional Studies Initiative

The Trans-Regional Studies Initiative at Michigan State University began in 2016 when leaders from ISP, the MSU Libraries, and other campus units began a conversation about the future of area studies and global studies. The Initiative engages in topics such as health, global Islam, agriculture and trade, infrastructure, and land and water access.


Ubuntu Dialogues Program

The Ubuntu Dialogues: Museums and Communities Connect was an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation-funded partnership between the MSU African Studies Center and the Stellenbosch University Museum. The project included three main components: virtual student dialogues, a seminar speaker exchange program, and a student internship program.
